What do you do to fill your cup? We all fall on empty at some point. Even if you can’t tell by looking at them, everyone has an invisible monkey they are wrestling. For me, I feel like there is never an opportunity for GUILT FREE moments for me.
Sure I can steal a moment if the kids are getting along to scroll social media but there is no escaping the fact that I am neglecting someone’s needs by doing this.
I know. Ok I get it. I can rationalize with myself all day. I am good at looking at situations from different points of view. The mess isn’t going anywhere. They are only this little for so long. Real lived in houses look like this. The kids will be fine if everything isn’t perfect. See? I have a million more of those thoughts. Is my problem I’m a perfectionist?
We all know the saying, “You can’t pour from an empty cup.” So what are your secrets to getting time for just you, and what do you do to refill your cup? I enjoy reading, playing video games, and shopping the most. However, being a stay at home mom doesn’t exactly provide the funds for shopping, hahaha.
I’ve made a list below with all of my ideas. It’s long, but let me know what you enjoy most or if I have left anything out.
Self Care List
- Reading
- Games/puzzles
- Writing/journaling (with a pretty notebook and a good pen just for you)
- Crafting/sewing/painting
- Organizing
- Learning a new skill or about a new topic
- Eating a real meal/drinking water
- Taking a shower, including washing your hair and shaving
- Paint your nails or mani/pedi
- Haircut
- SLEEP!!!!!
- Walk/fresh air/soak up vitamin D
- Stetch/yoga
- Meditation
- Listen to music
- Massage
- Look at the stars
- Get new undergarments
- Get a new perfume
- Take yourself on a date
Some of those ideas can be done for free or fairly inexpensive, which is the best for me. Sometimes, when you get a little extra pocket change, it’s nice for a splurge. You deserve to be taken care of, too!
